Phase 1: First Rush
The reality is that there is no clean cut way to prepare for an offensive Terran. If your opponent know you are playing as Protoss will have to make some difficult strategic decisions based on the map, location, etc. However, it is always critical for you to consider some options in the initial stages for you to set the right course of action to attack. As you will find in any set of stairs SC2, adjusting to what the Terran player is producing it is imperative that you watch. For this reason, I've gone ahead and detail out some strategies to use (for Starcraft 2 Protoss vs Terran match-up) that have worked successfully. However, we know that some of these are more complicated than others and should only be used when faced higher ranked opponents. Moreover, they are in no particular order.

  • Scouting is very important that you know the base of your opponent is. Make sure you build and send an observer on a reconnaissance mission. It will help you determine his future lies.
  • Proxies: A small power units Terran Reaper can make your base a lot of destruction early in the game. His goal with this strategy is to locate the Terran base and immediately build a gateway to Boost Chrono and send through the tower of zealots to stop construction activity Terran. The quicker you can do this, the easier it is for you to save time and build up a tier two units to fight the Reapers imminent. NOTE: Terran players have the ability to remove powers as well. If you see an SCV pass by the probe, the delay of your proxy server and quickly build a forge and two guns photon to its base.
  • Stalkers: If your enemy has not chosen to prepare for a career Reaper, your best bet is to carry out their own stalkers career. This will take some careful planning, but should be worth the effort. If done properly, you have built 1) Pilon, 2) Gateway 3) probes, 4) assimilator, and 5) Cybernetics Core to 6) Increases Chrono Stalker.

Phase 2: Counter game Mid
The Protoss units have good reason to prevent against any early game rush Reaper. The Colossus and Immortal are very robust when it comes to defend your base or the onset of attacks. However, these units are not capable of fighting air strikes.

After the first attack has been suppressed, prepare for Marine and invasion Terran Marauder by your opponent. These two units are relatively inexpensive and provide a solid "ball" of fire power must be countered by zealots, sentries, and colossi. More specifically, sentries Field Force provide a unique capability that can "break" an M & M offensive. If done properly, should have the advantage of reading Terran units because they are trapped inside their barricade. NOTE: this should be used at the foot a ramp leading to their camp.
